Things are going from bad to worse for the Mets.

Not long after the team announced Edwin Diaz was on the IL with a right shoulder impingement, one of the team’s few other stars, Pete Alonso, was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers in the bottom of the first after being hit in the right hand as he tried to check his swing on a pitch from James Paxton.

Alonso went to first base, but after being checked by the training staff, was removed for pinch runner Brett Baty.

It was just another blow to a Mets team that entered having lost seven of their previous eight games.
