A dull Saturday at Citi Field got a little more juice in the bottom of the eighth inning after Pete Alonso was hit in the back of the neck by a Jose Soriano curveball, leading to the benches clearing.

Alonso, who initially went down, seemed to be OK but exited the game with a trainer as Danny Mendick pinch-ran for him at first base. He was listed as having a neck injury.

Alonso missed time in June with a left wrist issue.

The Mets, who have been remiss to lose their cool over hit batsmen this year, quickly jumped from the dugout to defend Alonso.

Both dugouts and benches cleared, but the fracas quickly dissipated before any punches could be thrown.

Alonso appeared to exchange words with Angels catcher Logan O’Hoppe, but that was as far as anything went.

The Mets lost to the Angels 5-3.
