Brittany Mahomes’ antics in the ocean have landed her in a sea of trouble.
Mahomes, the wife of two-time Super Bowl winner and Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, came under fire on Monday after she posted since-deleted Instagram photos on vacation posing with a dolphin in Hawaii.
“We know you love companion animals, but we hope to see you extend your compassion to marine life too,” the animal rights organization, PETA, wrote in a long comment on her page. “In the ocean, dolphins swim up to 60 miles each day, but when used for entertainment, they’re confined to small tanks or pools.”
“Many dolphins develop painful conditions, such as stomach ulcers, and some die prematurely from the stressful conditions of extreme captivity. Not to mention, many illnesses can be passed from dolphins to human visitors, including viral, fungal, and bacterial infections such as salmonella. These types of interactions are dangerous for them AND us,” the organization wrote.
Following the blowback from PETA and dozens of fans on her post, Mahomes, 27, eleted her post.
Mahomes, who was pictured on vacation with her husband, Patrick, and her two-year-old daughter, Sterling, captioned the photo, “Ever snuggled with a 400lbs dolphin?” adding a heart-eyes emoji.

In the photos, Mahomes can be seen petting, hugging and kissing the dolphin, as well as bringing in her daughter Sterling to pose with the sea mammal as well.
A number of Mahomes’ followers also chimed in to criticize her post.
“I would never pay to support this type of tourism… Please educate yourself on this,” one commenter wrote.

“Clueless, it’s disgusting that you would go there and promote animal cruelty,” someone else posted.
Mahomes, a mother of two, last made headlines on Instagram after posting a sparkling outfit she wore in Las Vegas with her husband on Sunday.
She hasn’t publicly commented about her controversial post after deleting it.
