Percy Jackson and the Olympians has found its Gray Sisters for Season 2.
At D23 on Saturday, Disney revealed that Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho will play the trio of sisters in the forthcoming season on Disney+.
In the mythical world created by Rick Riordan, the Gray Sisters are old women who share one eye and one tooth and run a “taxi firm” in New York City. While operating within the Sea of Monsters, they encounter some of the main characters.
Bernhard will portray Anger, the Gray Sister responsible for collecting cab fare from heroes who call upon the taxi. Anger impatiently awaits her turn to use the one eye the Sisters share.
Schaal will portray Tempest, the sister who is currently in possession of the coveted eye. She uses it to observe the Heroes, tell their future, and tease them about their crushes and social lives.
Cho will portray Wasp, the primary driver of the Gray Sisters Taxi (albeit being blind most of the time). She’s known for driving a bit fast and wreckless to deliver the Heroes to Camp Half-Blood.
The news comes just about two weeks after it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Daniel Diemer was cast as Tyson the Cyclops. Tyson is Percy’s (Walker Scobell) paternal half-brother, the son of Poseidon and a nymph.
Production on Season 2 just began in Vancouver last week but the cast has been mostly hush on details.
During the show’s D23 panel on Saturday, however, star Leah Sava Jeffries assured: “Your jaw is going to be on the ground when this season comes out.”
Season 2 of the series will follow Percy Jackson (Scobell), Annabeth Chase (Jeffries), and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) as they embark on a new journey based on Rick Riordan’s second book in the PJATO series titled The Sea of Monsters.
In the new season, Percy not only learns he has a Cyclops brother but has to protect his camp from an attack by Kronos. Not to mention that Grover has mysteriously gone missing.
