NextImg:People are ‘packing’ Stanley tumblers with bizarre accessories: ‘What happened to backpacks?’

Forget a purse, just use your water bottle.

Stanley tumblers are all the rage, and all the coolest people you know probably have at least one — but has the trend gone too far?

TikTok has been bombarded with “pack my Stanley with me” videos, where people add loads of accessories to their water bottle, making it a vessel for more than just liquids.

In these videos, you’ll see the Stanley girlies putting mini backpacks onto their insulated 40-oz Stanley Quencher Tumbler with a side handle and straw, which they fill with little items such as chapstick.

They also have holders for rings or pills like Advil or Tylenol that attach to the handles, chapstick holders and key holders, as well as mini Stanley keychains, so even their Stanleys have Stanleys.

TikTokkers have also started using snack trays for their cups. These detachable silicone snack trays have sections for multiple different snacks with a hole in the middle to go around the top of the Stanley for a hands-free snack experience.

Stanley cups typically range in price between $35 and $45 depending on size and style. Stanley

Other accessories include straw covers and caps, spill stoppers, silicone protective bumpers for the bottom of the cups, ice trays that make molds specifically for the tumbler, and carrying straps and holders so people can wear their Stanley — which have all the contents of a purse now — like a purse.

Stanley cups typically range in price between $35 and $45 depending on size and style, but some of the limited-edition Stanleys, such as the Olivia Rodrigo x Stanley collaboration, are being resold on eBay for as much as $290.

And with the addition of all these accessories, it’s easy for someone to spend hundreds of dollars on their water bottle.

One content creator, @itsemilyleah, has a whole section on her TikTok page for “tumbler packing,” racking up millions of views for the aesthetic content.

Her videos show that she has at least seven different Stanleys, as well as accessories for storing her different parts in her home.

“Packing my Stanley for a long walk,” she writes on one video, which shows her wrapping her Stanley in a holder, putting in mini ice cubes, attaching a straw lid and spill stopper, putting her phone in the pouch and adding an attachment where she holds a few essentials.

People in the comments were flabbergasted by the concept.

“Are you walking the Oregon trail????” one quipped, while another asked, “Are you planning to come back?”

“Can you imagine being seen in public with this ensemble,” an embarrassed user wrote.

“U forgot to attach ur apartment to the Stanley,” another joked.

Many people in the comments wondered why the user wouldn’t just use a purse or a backpack.

“It’s called a purse/backpack! Hope this helps!” someone said.

“What happened to backpacks omg,” one commented.

Others have shown that they’ve expanded their Stanley collection, packing not just their Stanley tumblers, but also including Stanley’s $100 mini cooler in their videos.

It appears Stanley has embraced the “pack my Stanley” trend, giving consumers more things to pack — and even launching their own Stanley holder product, the “All Day Quencher Carry-All.”

The description promises “hands-free hydration—with pockets” for your phone, a slim wallet, keys, headphones, lip balm and a dedicated sleeve to hold sunglasses.
