Patrick Mahomes’ competitive nature won’t let his wife and Taylor Swift stay atop the mountain for secret handshakes for long.
At last week’s Chiefs-Chargers game, Swift and Brittany Mahomes unveiled a celebratory handshake that took the world by storm.
In a radio appearance Thursday, Mahomes vowed to one-up the duo.
“I need to talk to Travis because me and Travis don’t even have a handshake yet,” Mahomes told Kansas City’s KCSP 610 AM.
“So I mean, they’re ahead of the game on us. So we’re gonna have to get on the whiteboard, and we’re gonna figure out a handshake so that we can try to one-up theirs.”
Told by host Carrington Harrison that he hoped the duo would have it ready the next time they connected for a touchdown, Mahomes was on the same wavelength.
“Yeah, we’re gonna work on it,” Mahomes affirmed. “We’ll get it ready for you.”
Swift, who is dating Kelce, the Chiefs tight end, has been to four of the team’s last five games.
The couple has become so smitten that Kelce is reportedly planning to travel to Buenos Aires to catch the beginning of the international leg of Swift’s “Eras” tour when the Chiefs have a bye during Week 10.
Earlier this month, Kelce acknowledged that the NFL’s broadcast partners might be “overdoing” all the shots of Swift during games.
“They are overdoing it a bit for sure, especially my situation,” Kelce said on his “New Heights” podcast to his brother Jason. “They’re just trying to have fun with it.”
