Patrick Mahomes is safe after a deadly shooting took place during the team’s Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City, Mo.
“Praying for Kansas City…????????????????????????,” the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback wrote on X (previously Twitter) Wednesday afternoon.
Mahomes’ message comes shortly after news surfaced that multiple people were shot in Union Station while fans were out celebrating the team’s Super Bowl LVIII win against the San Francisco 49ers.
Per CNN, Kansas City Fire Department spokesperson Michael Hopkins one person is dead and 14 others are injured, including three patients who are in critical condition, five who are in serious condition and one who has non-life-threatening injuries.
Police urged fans to quickly leave the area so victims could quickly receive treatment.
“Anyone nearby needs to leave the area as quickly and safely as possible to facilitate treatment of the shooting victims. Please avoid the Union Station parking garage area to allow first responders through,” police said.
