Patrick Mahomes and dad bod are not two things that are often associated with one another, but the two-time Super Bowl MVP seemed convinced he was sporting a dad bod when he fielded questions during Super Bowl 2024 Opening Night.
The Chiefs quarterback was a good sport when he was tossed a question about whether he’d rather have six-pack abs or another Super Bowl title.
The answer was obvious, but he had some fun with his reply.
“Another Super Bowl for sure,” Mahomes said. “I have a six-pack and it’s just under the dad bod. If you feel, there might be some skin there, but underneath that the six-pack is there. You just have to get real close and you have to squint a little bit and I think you’ll see it.”
The Chiefs star was all smiles at the end as he looked for more questions.
However, his concern over his dad bod didn’t stop there.
Mahomes was asked another question where he talked about wanting his career to go as long as Tom Brady’s did.
“Doing work outside of the building. It takes taking care of your body,” Mahomes said. “Eating healthy, trying to get rid of the dad bod that I got. But try to do whatever you can just to be healthy and go out there and be the best player that you can be.”
Mahomes and his wife Brittany have two kids together – 2-year-old Sterling Skye and 1-year-old Patrick “Bronze” Lavon – which is perhaps why the NFL star is so concerned about having a dad bod.
There was one person who was unimpressed by the comments, comedian Bert Kreischer, who was on hand at Super Bowl 2024 Opening Night, and rolled his eyes at Mahomes in a video posted on X.
“He doesn’t have a dad bod bro, he doesn’t even know what a dad bod is,” Kreischer said. “This is a f–king dad bod.”
The well-known comedian then proceeded to lift his shirt and show his beer gut to the camera.
Mahomes is looking to lead the Chiefs to the franchise’s fourth Super Bowl title and the third one with him as their quarterback.
A victory for Kansas City on Sunday in Las Vegas would be its second consecutive NFL crown.
