With only two more episodes to go before retirement, Pat Sajak is already making plans for his next gig. Sajak’s final episode as host of Wheel of Fortune is set to air this Friday (June 7), but Variety announced today that Sajak has lined up an acting gig to keep him busy after his tenure at the show is over.

Sajak will appear in the play Prescription: Murder at Honolulu’s Hawaii Theatre next summer, from July 31 to Aug. 10, 2025.

Sajak will star opposite Joe Moore, his longtime friend and a newscaster and actor based out of Hawai’i. Prescription: Murder is a 1962 play that was written by William Link and Richard Levinson; the play was later adapted for television and would serve as the basis for the Columbo TV series, which starred Peter Falk.

According to Variety, in this version of the play, Sajak will play “brilliant psychiatrist Roy Flemming, who hatches a plot with a perfect alibi to murder his neurotic and possessive wife.” Moore will play Lt. Columbo, the bumbling detective investigating the case.

While Sajak is best known for his gig on Wheel, he and Moore have previously starred together in eight other plays, seven of them at the Hawai’i Theater.

Tickets for this show are now available starting at $20, but there’s also an option for $75 VIP seats which include a meet and greet with Sajak and the rest of the cast. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the theater, which is a non-profit.

As he gears up for his last-ever Wheel show, Sajak has been looking back at his decades-long tenure. In an emotional interview with his daughter and Wheel social correspondent Maggie Sajak earlier this week, the host said he chose to retire now because he would “rather leave a couple years too early than a couple of years too late.”

He added, “Could I still do it? Yeah, I think I could, for a while, there’s also some other things in life that we’d like to do, and I’m enjoying this last year. It’s been a great 40 years, and I’m looking forward to whatever’s ahead.”

Wheel of Fortune airs on weeknights at 7:30/6:30c. Check out their website for local listings.
