Amid the news of Ryan Seacrest being crowned as Wheel of Fortune‘s first new host since Pat Sajak christened the wheel, an episode from way back in 2012 has resurfaced, prompting fans to wonder, is Sajak psychic?
The Season 29 clip, which was shared by a former WOF champ, begins with one of the contestants landing a “free play,” and requesting an “E.” Sajak replies, “Well, you’ve spun the wheel, you gotta ask for a consonant,” before realizing his mistake and exclaiming, “Oh, you’re on a Free Play! You know what, I’m an idiot!”
The video then transitions to another player’s turn, who guesses the letter “N.”
Sajak quips, “I’m not sure, let’s look,” causing the audience to chuckle. There are 3 N’s in the answer, granting the lucky contestant a free trip to Arizona.
“Seacrest is on speed-dial,” Sajak jokes in response to his missteps during the episode, bringing lots of laughs from the audience.

While the world is still reeling from this IRL Simpsons-level prophetic clip, Sajak’s comment likely stemmed from Seacrest’s prolific career as a host, which began in 1993 on ESPN’s Radical Outdoor Challenge.
He had three other gigs prior to landing his defining role on American Idol, which he’s continued to host since the competition’s inception in 2002.
Seacrest had been rumored to be a top consideration to replace Sajak once he announced his retirement via Twitter earlier this month.
The new host will officially succeed Sajak in 2024, alongside Vanna White, with whom he “can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel,” according to Seacrest’s Instagram post announcing his upcoming role.
Wheel of Fortune airs on weeknights at 7:30/6:30c.
