Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak knows just how to comfort his contestants.
Contestant Micah White, a bar trivia host hailing from Las Vegas, had a very close shot at winning big during Tuesday’s episode when they swapped the $100,000 wedge with $1 million. But he was faced with a nearly impossible puzzle to solve, a fact that Sajak made sure to remind him about.
White was only able to guess just a few of the letters on the board before he had to try his best at solving the Bonus Round puzzle.
“Obviously, it’s challenging,” Sajak commented, before later adding, “Try to come up with something, good luck.”
With just 10 seconds on the clock, White attempted to guess what the answer could possibly be. “Bloody orange slices, bloody heck?” he said.
The puzzle was ultimately revealed to be “Fluffy Flapjacks.”
“Oh, you were so not close,” Sajak said. The joke earned a laugh from White and the audience.

As Sajak began to open the envelope, White told the game show host, “Show me the million, Pat, I can take it.” But the prize money was actually just $40,000.
“Well, I’m happy not to see the million,” Sajak said. “Nothing wrong with that 40.”
White still went home as the victor of the evening with the highest score of $26,550.
The longtime Wheel of Fortune host has become known for making sarcastic jokes towards his contestants, though they are often received well by the guests and audience. However, Sajak recently faced some backlash from viewers at home after he jokingly told a contestant to “shut up.”
While some felt it was “not a good look” for the show, others defended the host, saying it was just “a funny back and forth.”
Wheel of Fortune airs on weeknights at 7:30/6:30c. Check out their website for your local listings.
