NextImg:Paige Spiranac uses ‘boobs and golf’ brag to perfectly shut down feud with PGA pro

Don’t expect to see Paige Spiranac and Nate Lashley playing a round of golf together.

The golf influencer and 2022 Maxim covergirl appears to be feuding with Lashley, an American golfer on the PGA Tour, on Twitter.

The tiff began last week when 30-year-old Spiranac explained in a PointsBet video why she believes slow play in golf should be considered cheating.

Spiranac discussed the topic after recalling the buzz on Golf Twitter during The Masters in Augusta, where pros Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka were seen waiting at a number of holes behind Patrick Cantlay’s group.

“A golfer has 40 seconds to hit their shot and if they don’t do so in their allotted time, they should be penalized,” Spiranac said in the video.

“Slow play is unsportsmanlike and a form of cheating. I don’t understand how this is not fixed yet.”

Lashley appeared to disagree with Spiranac in a reply tweet last week that read: “I don’t like slow play at all but these courses are very difficult and there is a lot on the line.

“If @PaigeSpiranac would have played professionally at a higher level she would understand but I don’t think most people are watching these videos to see what she has to say.”

Spiranac didn’t back down.

On Thursday, the influencer responded to Lashley in a quote-tweet and called out the pro for trying to “belittle” her resume.

“I said Nate’s tweet was sexist on my podcast [“Playing a Round”] which is now causing a stir on Twitter lol,” Spiranac wrote.

“Yes, I use my sex appeal to my advantage but that doesn’t invalidate my opinion. I share a similar stance on slow play as many top pros as well as many in golf media but he only decided to call me out and belittle my achievements in the process,” Spiranac continued.

“It’s not about me showing my cleavage and getting upset when I’m called out by it. I’m upfront about my brand. Not my fault people like boobs and golf. Both are wonderful.”

Lashley has yet to respond as of Friday afternoon.

In a recent episode of her podcast, Spiranac called Lashley’s comments “sexist” while discussing slow play.

“If you take longer than 40 seconds, you should get penalized,” she said. “It’s in the rule books people. So if you can’t do it, you should be penalized. It’s not that hard to comprehend.

“… And Nate Lashley, he’s a PGA Tour player, he won at the Rocket Mortgage years ago (2019), he tweeted at me and he said ‘I don’t like slow play at all but these courses are very difficult and there’s a lot on the line.’

“If, and he tagged me, Paige Spiranac would have played professionally at a higher level she would understand, but I don’t think most people are watching these videos to see what she has to say.

“The next day, Matt Fitzpatrick comes out and he says ‘slow play is ridiculous, they need to do something about it.’ They interviewed Patrick Cantlay and he said ‘I’m only slow because no one is doing anything about it.’ There have been multiple players on the PGA Tour who have come out and said that this is a serious issue and they need to fix it.

“So for Nate Lashley to be honestly quite sexist about it and to come after me when this was not that hot of a take, everyone is in agreement that slow play needs to be fixed, so it’s not okay… and Nate Lashley, probably a slow player. He’s probably the problem.”

Spiranac explained that she feels slow play is disrespectful to the fellow players and could impact their game as well.

She added that she feels very strongly about it because she is a quick player, and has experience playing with slow play golfers.

Lashley, who turned pro in 2005, won his first pro golf tournament on the PGA Tour at that 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Like Spiranac, the 40-year-old is a University of Arizona alum and resides in Arizona.
