No one tells Paige Spiranac what to wear.

The former professional golfer spoke with People on the red carpet at Monday night’s “Happy Gilmore 2” premiere in New York City, clapping back at backlash over her infamously revealing athletic attire.

“I just try to embrace who I am when I talk about that,” the athlete and influencer told the outlet.

She continued, “My main message is always do what you want to do, wear what you want to wear.” _paige.renee/Instagram

“My main message is always do what you want to do, wear what you want to wear,” she declared. “And for me, that’s wearing things that are a little bit more sexy, more form-fitting, but also just finding your own individual style.”

Spiranac, who played NCAA Division I golf at the University of Arizona and San Diego State University, revealed that when she went pro, she “was always forced to wear something that didn’t feel comfortable.”

The 32-year-old added, “And so I started wearing tank tops and leggings and it just caused such an uproar of just people upset about no collar, and what I was wearing, and disrespecting the game, and also just exposing my body.”

Spiranac further explained, “And I’m like, I’m an athlete and I like what I wear. I feel very comfortable with what I wear.

And also I don’t want young girls to grow up feeling insecure about their body or everyone telling them, no, they should cover up. They should be proud of their body, especially with how much hard work they put into it when they’re eating right and working out.”

Spiranac has defended her clothing in the past, such as the “booty cleavage” skirt she wore in 2023.

“It’s amazing the outrage this outfit is causing on Instagram,” she wrote on X after many criticized the look. “It’s just a little cheeky or booty cleavage as I like to say lol. I think it’s quite tame and this picture is cute.”

At the premiere on Monday evening, the golf influencer, who will make a cameo in the film brought the heat in (what else?) a red, see-through gown.

Also appearing in the movie are writer and star Adam Sandler as well as Margaret Qualley, Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, Bad Bunny, Travis Kelce, Eminem and more

She’s not afraid to step out in a racy look.
