Hundreds of people from the Karbi community, an indigenous group in Northeast India, broke a stilt-walking world record.

With 721 individuals participating, they set the Guinness World Record for the longest moving line of people walking on stilts — and the line they formed measured a staggering 1.24 miles.

The group, known for their traditional sport of Kang Dong Dang, where they race on stilts to a finish line, walked on bamboo stilts for 10 minutes, according to the record book.

It took place at the 50th Karbi Youth Festival, where the participants, including children, teenagers and adults, wore traditional garb and said a prayer before they began.

“Breaking the Guinness World Records title for the longest moving line of people walking on stilts was not just about achieving a milestone,” said Rajeshan Terang, a secretary at Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, “it was a celebration of our cultural heritage, unity, and resilience as a community.”
