NextImg:Over 1,000 Dolly Parton impersonators try to break Guinness World Record

More than 1,100 people dressed as Dolly Parton gathered in Ireland to try to set a Guinness World Record and raise money for charity.

On June 24, revelers gathered for the Dolly Day event in Listowel, County Kerry, in an attempt to set a world record for the largest gathering of people wearing a “full head-to-toe Dolly Parton costume.”

Fans and impersonators of country music’s queen dressed to the nines in blonde curly wigs, cowboy boots and rhinestone-covered costumes — and sang Parton’s hit song “9 to 5” in unison.

The money raised at the festivities benefited the Kerry Hospice Foundation, a voluntary organization that provides funding and support for palliative care services in Kerry and Comfort for Chemo Kerry, which is helping to fund a new chemotherapy unit for its residents.

The songstress herself commented online about the event — saying her look is easy to replicate.

“First of all, thank you for liking me that much, but I’m so easy to do,” she said. “You could buy a cheap wig anywhere and you could pad your boobs if you ain’t got none of your own.”

The 11-time Grammy award winner went on to say that there are so many spot-on impersonators, that she herself even lost a Dolly look-alike contest once.

In her memoir, “Dream More,” the Tennessee native explains she was beaten out by a drag queen that day in Los Angeles.

The Dolly Day event is being submitted to Guinness World Records and word on whether or not it set a record will be officially released in eight to 12 weeks, Fox 56 reported.

Parton herself holds 10 Guinness World Records.

Some of her impressive feats include having the longest span of No. 1 hits on the U.S. top country album chart for a female and the most studio albums released by a female country singer.
