And the Oscar goes to…
The 97th annual Academy Awards hosted by Conan O’Brien is underway at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
The biggest movie stars in Tinseltown flocked to the A-list affair on Sunday, March 2, marking the end of the 2025 award season.
Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez’s “Emilia Pérez” earned the most nominations with 13. The 2024 flick, which also features the controversial star Karla Sofía Gascón, set the record for the most-nominated non-English language film.
All eyes are set on Demi Moore, who, for the first time in her decades-long career, is nominated to win a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in “The Substance.” She’s up against some stiff competition, though, like Mikey Madison (“Anora”), Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”), Karla Sofía Gascón (“Emilia Perez”), and Fernanda Torres (“The Brutalist”).
“A Complete Unknown,” “The Substance,” “The Brutalist,” “Wicked,” “Anora,” “Conclave,” “Emilia Perez” and more are vying for the ultimate prize — the coveted Best Picture award.
The award show came with its share of snubs, too. Angelina Jolie for “Maria,” Nicole Kidman for “Babygirl,” Pamela Anderson for “The Last Showgirl” and Denzel Washington for “Gladiator II” are just some of the stars who were shockingly overlooked for 2025 Academy Awards nods.
However, several members of Hollywood’s elite will walk out of the show tonight as winners.
Scroll to see this year’s nominees and winners. The list will be updated throughout the night.
