An Orthodox Jewish man was brutally stabbed in his own driveway in Rockland County, New York, in an attack that police called a “horrific assault.”

Elijah Dean, 23, of New City was arrested for the bloody attack Saturday evening and being held on one million dollars cash bond, according to Ramapo Police.

Dean was due in court Thursday to face charges of attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, officials said.

He does not face hate crime charges, and the motive for the attack is unclear.

The unnamed victim had been “accosted” in front of his home and “stabbed multiple times about his body including his head and neck,” according to cops.

He was taken to the hospital in serious condition but was expected to survive his injuries.

The motive for the attack, which happened in a predominantly Orthodox Jewish community, remained unclear.

“While the motive in the attack is not yet known, the Rockland County Human Rights Commission refuses to normalize any form of animus informing such inhuman abhorrence against any group,” the Rockland County Human Rights Commissioner told ABC7.
