Ahoy, Straw Hat Pirates! It’s never been a better time to be a One Piece fan.

Netflix will be adding six titles of the hit anime adventure series to the platform in September, following the release of the anticipated live-action adaptation

Based on Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga series, One Piece has spurred into a widely successful franchise culminating in 20 seasons of an ongoing anime series, 15 movies, and 13 television specials. And Oda shows no sign of slowing down as the manga just released its 106th volume in July.

Now, Netflix is getting in on the action. New titles being added to the platform include One Piece Adventure of Nebulandia, One Piece Episode of East Blue – Luffy and His Four Crewmates’ Great Adventure, One Piece Episode of Skypiea, One Piece Film: Gold, One Piece Heart of Gold, and One Piece: 3D2Y – Overcome Ace’s Death! Luffy’s Vow to His Friends

All six titles will be added to the platform on September 1, 2023.

As of now, Netflix houses 15 seasons of the anime, including all 61 episodes of the first season, referred to as the “East Blue” arc.

Also, currently available to stream on the platform are four One Piece movies, One Piece, One Piece: Episode of Chopper + The Miracle Winter Cherry Blossom, One Piece Film: Strong World, and One Piece: Film Z

The new titles will arrive just in time to entertain fans who just binge-watched the streamer’s live-action adaptation series, which premieres with six hour-long episodes on August 31, 2023. Like the renditions that preceded it, the series follows young dreamer Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) as he leaves his small village in search of treasure. Over the course of his adventure, he assembles a talented pirate crew to help him on his journey to become King of the Pirates. According to Netflix, the journey will include, “finding a ship to sail, searching every inch of the vast blue seas, outpacing the Marines, and outwitting dangerous rivals at every turn.”

While chatting with Decider at a June event, Godoy told us that one of the challenges he faced while portraying the iconic character was “adapting something that is huge,” as the franchise comes with a large fanbase and rich source material. “You have this world where there’s Laos pirates and stretchy pirates, and you need to find a way to make that feel real human,” Godoy explained.

In addition to Godoy, the series stars Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda serve as showrunners and original creator Oda is an executive producer.

At the same event, Rudd told us, “I’m really proud of the show we made. We made a nerd show — a good nerd show. A show made by nerds, for nerds.”

Given that Oda’s work already has global, large fanbase, it’ll be interesting to see how Netflix’s newfound interest impacts the future of the growing franchise.
