NextImg:Olympic speed skater Alexandra Ianculescu reveals Playboy slid into her DMs

Alexandra Ianculescu’s attempt to go from Winter Olympian to the Summer Games may take a detour into the digital pages of Playboy.

The Romanian-Canadian speed skater-turned-cycling hopeful revealed this week that the iconic men’s magazine hit her up for a potential collaboration.

“How my Tuesday morning started,” she tweeted. “First a text from the official @Playboy, followed by a gravel ride for breakfast, with Narnia’s local legend.”

In the accompanying photo set was a screenshot of a DM from someone at Playboy, though the actual contents of the message weren’t shared.

The 31-year-old is funding her dream of competing at the 2024 Games in Paris as an OnlyFans creator, using the subscription-based social media platform, where one can sell original content.

Ianculescu sells bikini photos and other content on the site, telling the Daily Star in April that it does more than fund her training.

Ianculescu uses OnlyFans to fund her Olympic training.

“I made an OnlyFans account in 2021,” she said. “… It’s helping me survive, pay my rent, pay for groceries, and it covers the cycling and the coffee bills!”

She retired from speed skating in 2021, but with a new goal of cycling glory, Ianculescu found her personal training business wasn’t cutting it.

“It’s fully 100% OnlyFans because I didn’t have the time to do personal training anymore,” she said. “Someone suggested, ‘Why don’t you just have an OnlyFans account and create like a behind-the-scenes of what you do? And since you post bikini photos anyway, you can actually charge for that.’

Ianculescu, a Canadian speed skater, has her eyes set on cycling at the 2024 Games in Paris.

“I was like, ‘seriously, people pay for that?’ Like, I like my body. I want to post it anyway… So I said, ‘I’ll give myself one month and see how it goes.’ And it was crazy!”

Now, she could become the latest Olympian to pose for Playboy, with German bobsledder Lisa Buckwitz and Austrian skeleton racer Janine Flock stripping down for the Germany Olympic issue before the 2022 Winter Games.

The magazine relaunched a digital-first publication earlier this year, as a competitor to Onlyfans.
