Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik is heading to the ballroom!
Fresh off his historic pommel horse performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Team USA athlete will now be competing on Season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars.”
The announcement was made during “Good Morning America” on Thursday, with Nedoroscik making a live in-studio appearance. This is the first contestant that’s been revealed for the forthcoming season.
“I’m very excited,” Nedoroscik, 25, said. “I’m hoping to bring some [gymnastics] moves … I want to have fun with it.”
The two-time Olympic bronze medal winner will be making history as the first male gymnast to compete on the show. Other female gymnasts who have previously hit the ballroom included Suni Lee, Simone Biles and Laurie Henderson.
As for who will be joining him on the dance floor this season?
Fans will have to patiently wait for the full cast reveal, which will be announced live on “GMA” on Sept. 4. However, that hasn’t stopped loyal viewers from expressing who they’d like to see on the Season 33 lineup on social media.
Names being thrown out in the ring this year include NFL star Jason Kelce, former inmate Gypsy Rose Blanchard, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, “Vanderpump Rules” star Tom Sandoval, Victoria Beckham from the Spice Girls and “Golden Bachelor” alum Gerry Turner.
ABC does not comment on casting rumors ahead of the official reveal.
Meanwhile, Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro will be back as co-hosts, with Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli returning as judges.
Val Chmerkovskiy currently holds the title of reigning champion amongst the pro dancers after taking home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy last season with actress Xochitl Gomez.
The two beat out Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach (second place), Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov (third place), Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev (fourth place) and Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber (fifth place).
“It feels like the culmination of a lot of hard work, a lot of sacrifice,” Chmerkovskiy exclusively told Page Six in the ballroom after the show. “I’m just proud that this young lady, so early in her life, was able to prove to herself that when you put your mind to something, and you’re willing to work really hard at it, you can accomplish anything.”
Gomez added, “I’ve always really been who I am and not really cared about what other people thought, but at this point in my career, there’s just a certain thing that you need, and this show is exactly what I needed. Just having the support, the family, the friends, and just people caring about me was really nice.”
The all-new season of “Dancing With the Stars” premieres Tuesday, Sept. 17 on ABC and Disney+.
