Ed McCaffrey is grateful for new daughter-in-law Olivia Culpo capturing a “solid gold” moment from her wedding to his son, 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.
In a post shared Monday on X, Ed — a former NFL wide receiver who played for the Giants, 49ers and Broncos — lauded Culpo, 32, for catching his wife, Lisa McCaffrey, tearing up the dance floor at the newlyweds’ reception.
“My daughter-in-law is already grabbing some SOLID GOLD CONTENT. Thank you Olivia for capturing Lisa in her natural habitat,” Ed wrote alongside the video, which Culpo, 32, originally shared on TikTok.
Lisa, who shares four sons with Ed, also posted the clip on her Instagram page and wrote, “So happy! Can’t stop dancing. I love my DIL!”
McCaffrey, 28, wed Culpo, a former Miss Universe winner, on June 29 in her native Rhode Island.
The couple, who announced their engagement in April 2023, swapped vows at Watch Hill Chapel before celebrating at the luxury Ocean House resort with family and friends, including some of McCaffrey’s 49ers teammates.
“Forever yours 6/29/24,” Culpo gushed on Instagram, where she posted a video that featured her long-sleeved Dolce & Gabbana ball gown worn for the ceremony.
In the days following the wedding, Culpo received pushback over her day-of look, with McCaffrey leaping to her defense.
“What an evil thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, the way my beautiful wife does,” McCaffrey commented on a July 1 video from fashion stylist Kennedy Bingham, who suggested in the lengthy clip that Culpo’s dress had “no personality.”
Culpo told Vogue that she “didn’t” want her wedding dress to “exude sex in any way, shape, or form” and believed the piece should be “as serious” as the “commitment” of marriage.
McCaffrey is now gearing up for his second full season with the 49ers, with whom he agreed a two-year extension in June.
He spent the first five-and-a-half seasons of his career with the Panthers before being traded in October 2022.
San Francisco is looking to shake off its Super Bowl heartbreak following February’s 25-22 overtime loss to the Chiefs.
The 49ers will host the Jets in their season opener on “Monday Night Football” on Sept. 9.
