NextImg:Odell Beckham Jr. misses chance at $1.25 million in incentives: ‘Gotta feed my son’

Odell Beckham Jr. would love to put on a show in Week 18 against the Steelers and possibly earn $1.25 million thanks to contract incentives, but it’s not to be.

That didn’t stop Beckham from issuing a helpful reminder to the betting community.

“Don’t bet on mine,” Beckham said on an Instagram post by @Sal_Vetri discussing some of the more achievable and bet-able Week 18 player bonuses and incentives.

The Ravens’ star wide receiver stood to earn $750,000 if he tallied 185 receiving yards in Week 18, a feat he has completed twice in his career but not since his Giants tenure, with the last time coming against the Ravens in 2016 when he recorded 66-yard game-winning score.

He further could’ve made an additional $250,000 each for grabbing five catches and two more touchdowns.

“If it was all up to me itd be no question . I gotta feed my son but that ain’t how life go,” Beckham further commented on the post.

The Ravens have locked up the top seed in the AFC and have nothing to play for this week, so they are sitting Beckham, MVP favorite Lamar Jackson and rookie standout receiver Zay Flowers.

Prior to the news that Beckham would be sitting, he had 23/1 odds to score two touchdowns on FanDuel. But he hasn’t done that since Oct. 4, 2020, so oddsmakers were factoring in tons of motivation against a Steelers team that still needs to win to have a playoff scenario pan out.

The lowest-hanging fruit comes with what would’ve been Beckham’s reception prop as five is much more obtainable.

For the season, his prop typically landed around 2.5, so by asking him to double this it would be reasonable to expect the line would’ve been projected in the +175 range.

But coach John Harbaugh is only concerned about playoff success and silencing the critics.

And Beckham could be a big piece in that, as he showed during his Rams Super Bowl run.
