Countless New Yorkers experienced a brief power outage late Thursday night as footage emerged on social media of smoke coming from what is believed to be a Brooklyn power plant.

Shortly before midnight, X users across the Big Apple posted that their lights flickered and some even reported internet outages.

One video on social media showed what appeared to be smoke coming from a Con-Edison plant in Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn.

Con-Ed didn’t immediately return a request for comment.

In response to concerns from customers over the brief outages, the company said on X: “ We are currently investigating this issue and appreciate your patience while we look into this matter.”
