A 17-year-old boy is clinging to life after a bullet struck him in the neck on a Bronx street during a targeted shooting Thursday, authorities and police sources said.
The teen was in a fight with a group of kids when gunfire erupted around 4:15 p.m. on Cauldwell Avenue and East 158 Street in Melrose near the Grove Hill Playground and P.S. 157, according to the NYPD and sources.
The wounded boy — who police sources described as an intended target with prior arrests — was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in critical condition, cops said.
Sources said the shooter fled the area on foot and remained on the lam Thursday night.
The broad daylight shooting is the latest violence involving teens in the Big Apple.
Last week, 13-year-old Troy Gill was shot dead by a rival gang in Crown Heights, police sources told The Post.
