The scooter-riding madman accused of gunning down an elderly father-of-six and injuring three others in broad daylight is set to be arraigned on murder and a slew of other charges Monday, Queens prosecutors said.
Thomas Abreu, 25, of Brooklyn, will be hauled into court on murder, attempted murder, assault and weapon possession charges over Saturday’s terrifying shooting rampage across Brooklyn and Queens.
The bloodshed unfolded when the maniac, who was on a blue scooter, was captured on surveillance video riding up behind an innocent pedestrian in Brooklyn’s East New York neighborhood just after 11 a.m. and shooting them in the back, according to prosecutors.
Just 16 minutes later, Abreu allegedly gunned down 86-year-old Homod Ali Saeidi on Jamaica Avenue in Queens as the innocent man was heading to his mosque to pray.
Saeidi, who took a bullet to his back, was later pronounced dead in the hospital.
Abreu then allegedly continued to drive around as he cruelly pumped rounds into several pedestrians, including one who was shot in the head and another in the shoulder.
The crazed gunman was nabbed by cops just after 1 p.m. in Queens after a brief foot pursuit, prosecutors said.
“The streets of two boroughs were turned into scenes of terror as this defendant allegedly rode his scooter, shooting indiscriminately at pedestrians and others,” Queens County District Attorney Melinda Katz said ahead of his arraignment.
“My office will hold him fully accountable and seek justice for the victims.”
Abreu had used a 9mm “ghost gun” equipped with an extended magazine during his savage spree, police sources said.
“This guy had a lot of ammunition on him,” a source. “There were going to be other bodies dropped.”
Abreu was pictured flashing a menacing grin at cameras as he was perp walked Sunday soon after he was hit with the slew of charges.
His arraignment was set to take place the same day as Saeidi’s grieving relatives were preparing to farewell the beloved father-of-six at his funeral in Brooklyn.
“My heart is broken, my family is all devastated,” Ahmed Alsaedi, Saeidi’s son, had told The Post on Sunday.
“We can’t believe something like that would happen to an 86 year-old man. It’s terrible.”
Saeidi’s family will later bury him in Spring Valley, New Jersey.
