A Big Apple bagelry is being praised for refusing a troublesome TikToker from Los Angeles their demand for a more West Coast-friendly version of the locally-beloved breakfast.
The trouble began when the unnamed shop is alleged to have said no to fashion exec Taylor Offer’s request for a “scooped” bagel.
“There’s nothing more stressful than ordering a bagel in New York City,” Offer, CEO of athleisure brand Feat, complained in an explicative TikTok viewed 3.5M times.
Scooping is a popular maneuver for those looking to cut back on their gluten intake, or to allow for more filling. The so-called “hack” joins the ranks of gimmicky, often social media-driven special requests that have lately been driving local restaurateurs berserk.
“The guy just looks at me and goes ‘I’m not scooping your ‘f–king bagel, bro,” the obstreperous out-of-towner claimed.
Offer — who also mockingly ranted about giving an NYC homeless person his used pizza crust in another video, and criticized the way New Yorkers walk in a third clip — says he fought back, saying, “Dude, that’s how I want it.'”
“[The worker] was like ‘get the f–k out of here with that s–t,'” the agitated Angeleno revealed.
The Post reached out to Offer, who apparently later got a scooped bagel at another unnamed location, for comment.
The gluten-hating go-getter’s grumblings brought out New York’s bagel defenders, who quickly toasted Offer and his order.
“The deli guy was correct,” one person commented.
“Scooped bagel is a crime I am sorry,” wrote another.
“I imagine a scooped bagel is like ordering a muffin and only eating the wrapper,” chimed in a third.
““I’m from Los Angeles” told me everything I needed to know,” commented a fellow user.
Offer’s other tirades in the Big Apple have TikTokers asking, “when is your flight home?”
“I get more angry the more I watch these videos,” another wrote on Offer’s clip about the homeless person.
“NYC is chewing you up and spitting you out. Like a scooped bagel,” added one more.
New York’s classic bagel culture has taken a bruising of late, aided in part by a 2021 article in the New York Times by a clueless West Coast-based reporter, proclaiming California home of the country’s best bagels.
The Big Apple’s hometown bagel lovers have also shown signs of restlessness with the status quo — one Long Island deli recently created a stir with their Doritos-flavored bagel.
