A 39-year-old car passenger was killed in a freak accident on the New Jersey Turnpike when a metal object suddenly smashed into the vehicle’s windshield, authorities say.

Steven Bradshaw of Audubon, NJ, was in the car heading north on the turnpike about 1:20 p.m. Thursday when the unidentified object struck the vehicle’s hood and windshield near mile marker 67 in East Windsor, <a href="https://www.nj.com/mercer/2024/03/passenger-killed-by-metal-object-that-hit-car-windshield-on-turnpike.html">according to NJ.com. </a>

Bradshaw died at the scene, the NJ State Police told the outlet. The car’s driver wasn’t hurt.

Authorities said they are still investigating the crash.
