The Bulls are re-upping with their center.
The Chicago Bulls and center Nikola Vucevic are finalizing a three-year, $60 million contract extension according to Shams Charania.
Despite many trade rumors throughout his tenure with the Bulls, Vucevic has been a steady presence for the squad, averaging 18.2 points and 11.1 rebounds a night in his two-plus seasons with the Bulls.
Chicago acquired the 33-year-old at the 2021 trade deadline in a deal with the Magic that sent Wendell Carter Jr., Otto Porter Jr., and two first-round picks to Orlando.
The two-time All-Star was a major contributor to Chicago’s push for the playoffs that ultimately fell short as the Miami Heat claimed the No. 8 seed by beating the Bulls in the play-in tournament.
Vucevic also played in all 82 games last season as the Bulls dealt with an injury to star guard Lonzo Ball, who will be out for his second straight year with knee issues.
The extension of Vucevic him in the fold with DeMar DeRozan, Zach Lavine and Alex Caruso for the time being.
But the team likely has more moves to make after finishing 10th in the East and failing advance past the play-in tournament.

One player that the Bulls may look to target in free agency is guard Fred VanVleet, who opted out of his $22.8 million deal with the Raptors.
VanVleet could fill the role of a starting point guard in Ball’s absence nicely as the guard averaged 19.3 points and 7.2 assists last season.
The 2021-22 All-Star was born in Rockford, Illinois, and grew up just 80 miles from Chicago.

The idea of a Bulls’ reunion with Derrick Rose, who was cut by the Knicks, has also been rumored.
