This is probably the best futures bet on the market right now.
A bettor from Las Vegas placed a big bet at Aria’s BetMGM Sportsbook before the Dolphins’ 70-point outburst in a thrashing of the Denver Broncos in Week 3.
The bettor backed the Dolphins to win the Super Bowl at 13/1 odds with a $100,000 wager, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to win MVP at +500 odds with a $60,000 bet.
The two wagers, totaling $160,000, can pay out $1.6 million if they both hit. The bet on the Dolphins alone is worth a whopping $1.3 million, should they win it all.
It seems this bettor chose the right time to place this bet with excellent odds on both wagers.
Following the Dolphins’ 70-20 win over the Broncos, BetMGM moved Miami to +900 to win the Super Bowl and Tagovailoa’s MVP odds moved to +350, making him the clear favorite.
This bettor’s faith now lies with NFL Coach of the Year favorite Mike McDaniel (+300), Tagovailoa and the rest of the high-powered Dolphins offense.
Since their embarrassing blowout of Sean Payton’s Denver Broncos, the Dolphins have become a public darling.
Miami is still one of the lowest liabilities that BetMGM has on the Super Bowl at just 4.9 percent.
Fellow AFC East heavyweights, the Buffalo Bills, account for 11.2 percent of their liability, while the Chiefs have the second-highest liability at 9.9 percent.
Overall, Miami has just the eighth-highest liability in the NFL.
Hanging over all of the bets is the health of Tagovailoa.
The Dolphins quarterback has suffered multiple concussions in years past, and any further injuries could end his season, and possibly his career.
But for now, this bettor has some of the most valuable tickets in the sports betting world.
