We can guarantee you won’t be bored this weekend, thanks to the releases of several great new movies and shows like Netflix’s long-awaited Kevin Hart film Lift, the series premiere of Peacock’s Ted, Apple TV+’s premiere of Killers of the Flower Moon, and the newest season of True Detective, which comes to HBO and Max on Sunday.

This week marks the arrival of several great titles across just about every streaming platform. If action-comedy is what you’re after, check out Kevin Hart’s heist movie Lift. On Peacock, you can tune in to the entire first season of the new comedy Ted, the prequel to Seth MacFarlane’s talking-bear movies. HBO and Max are premiering the first episode of True Detective: Night Country, which marks Jodie Foster’s first major TV role in over 40 years. And on Apple TV+, you can watch Lyly Gladstone’s Golden Globe-winning performance in Killers of the Flower Moon.

Lift is a new heist film starring Kevin Hart, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Billy Magnussen, Sam Worthington, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jean Reno, who are all part of a team that Hart’s character assembles to pull off a heist onboard an aircraft traveling from London to Zurich. The film, one of several highly-anticipated Netflix titles whose releases were delayed as a result of the SAG-AFTRA strikes last year, is finally available today after being shelved for over six months.

Who knew that a teddy bear movie would have this much staying power? The new Peacock series Ted is indeed based on the Seth MacFarlane movie of the same name, which starred Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett, a man whose teddy bear, Ted, was brought to life. The series, which now stars Max Burkholder in the Wahlberg role, serves as a prequel to the events of the two Ted films, and MacFarlane reprises his role as the voice of Ted. All eight episodes of Ted are available this week.

More than five years have passed since the last season of True Detective, but the show is back in full force this week with a stellar cast and a season that comes with it’s own subtitle. True Detective: Night Country, premieres Sunday night at 9PM ET on HBO and streams on Max, and stars Jodie Foster and Kali Reis as Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro, who are tasked with investigating the disappearance of eight men from their small Alaska town that’s enveloped in darkness during the bone-chilling winter months. The show’s six episodes will air weekly on Sunday nights through February 25th.
