Whether you’re in the mood for a dark thriller, an action-filled chase movie, or you just want to learn something new about some fascinating people, this week’s new releases on Netflix, Max, and beyond will fit the bill.
Not sure which new releases to check out? Let Decider help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.
The Woman In The Wall, which originally aired last year on BBC One, premieres this week on Paramount+ with Showtime and is sure to provide thrills, especially as it’s inspired by the true stories of the women who endured years of trauma after living in the Magdalene Laundries in Ireland. On Max, you can check out Jason Momoa in his latest project that’s not Aquaman; On The Roam is his new docuseries where he meets with some of the country’s most talented and original artisans. And on Netflix, check out Sixty Minutes, which is not a news program your grandma watches, but a German action thriller full of intense fight scenes throughout.
In this six-part limited series, Ruth Wilson plays Lorna Brady, a woman who wakes up one morning to find a dead body in her home. From there, the mysteries of who the dead woman is, how she got into Lorna’s home, and if Lorna herself is a murderer begin to unfold. Daryl McCormick (who co-starred in last year’s Bad Sisters), and Derry Girls‘ Philippa Dunne co-star.
Jason Momoa is a passionate guy, and his new docu-series On The Roam gives him a platform to travel the country seeking out artisans and artists who are masters of their crafts and celebrating them. The first two episodes of On The Roam dropped this week, and there will be two new episodes each week until February 8.
In Netflix’s new German action movie Sixty Minutes, Octavio (Emilio Sakraya), an MMA fighter, is a man with exactly one hour to get to his daughter’s birthday party, or else he will lose custody of her. Unfortunately, it’s not so simple, because making it to her party means skipping out on a fight he’s scheduled for. As he tries to make his way to the party, a group of criminals who aren’t happy that he bailed on his fight chase him through the city, making his simple birthday commute one hell of a fight sequence.
The options above only scratch the surface, so you know that this weekend’s full lineup will have amazing options for what to watch this weekend!
