Whether you’re looking for a breezy comedy, a new true crime doc to sink your teeth into, or historical drama, this weekend is filled with new shows to check out on streaming. Among Netflix’s newest releases are the Kate Hudson comedy Running Point and the legal drama Toxic Town, while over on Hulu you can check out the new documentary about the disgraced influencer Ruby Franke, or tune in to the Oscars live on Sunday night. Kate Hudson heads to the small screen for her first major TV role in Running Point, the new sports comedy on Netflix developed by Mindy Kaling. On Hulu, the family of Ruby Franke, the family vlogger sent to prison for child abuse speaks out in the new documentary Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke. Meanwhile, Prime Video is going Old Testament with House of David, the story of the young shepherd who slayed Goliath and ascended to become a king.
Kate Hudson is making her debut on the small screen in Netflix’s new sports show Running Point, which was co-created and executive produced by Mindy Kaling. On the show, Hudson stars as Isla Gordon, a woman who unexpectedly inherits her family’s professional basketball franchise. As a woman in a male-dominated business, Isla is forced to prove to herself and her family that she can not just handle but actually thrive in her new role.
The family of Ruby Franke, the parenting vlogger who was eventually arrested and sent to prison for aggravated child abuse is speaking out about her in a new Hulu documentary. In Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, Franke’s husband and two oldest children, Shari and Chad, come forward about their experience living with the child abuser and her business partner who was also convicted. The three-part series arrived Thursday.
House of David is a new series on Prime Video is the story of David, the young shepherd who slayed Goliath and went on to become the celebrated king of Israel. The historical series stars Ali Suliman in the title role, with Ayelet Zurer, Stephen Lang and bodybuilder/actor Martyn Ford as Goliath.
