Summer is turning out to be a great time to binge new series on streaming! From the return of Cobra Kai on Netflix to the new series Lady In the Lake, adapted from the novel of the same name, on Apple TV+ and the premiere of Peacock’s Gladiator epic Those About To Die, there’s a lot going on this week.
Not sure which new releases to check out? Let us here at Decider help you figure out what to watch this weekend and where to stream it.
Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, and their children, who have endured the generational trauma of the All Valley tournament in 1984, are back for the season 6, part I of Cobra Kai on Netflix this week. On Apple TV+, Natalie Portman, Moses Ingram, and Mikey Madison star in Lady In The Lake (no relation to the 1947 Philip Marlowe noir mystery). And on Peacok, you can watch the complete season of the sword-and-sandal drama Those About To Die, which came out yesterday.
It’s almost the beginning of the end of the biggest karate rivalry in Southern California! This week marks the arrival of Cobra Kai’s sixth and final season on Netflix, but don’t get too excited, because there are three parts to this season, and Part III won’t get here till 2025. And how’s this for a fun fact: the first three Karate Kid movies which starred Ralph Macchio were released in a span of five years. By the time Cobra Kai comes to an end, it will have run for seven.
The first two episodes of Apple TV+’s Lady In The Lake, which stars Natalie Portman as a housewife-turned-investigative journalist, are out this week. The series, about a white woman in 1966 Baltimore who becomes fixated on solving a pair of murders, including that of a Black woman, played by Moses Ingram, will subsequently release one episode per week on Fridays through August.
Anthony Hopkins stars in the Roman Gladiator drama Those About To Die on Peacock. All ten episodes of the series that focuses on Rome’s bloody fights to the death inside the Gladiator arena arrived on July 18. Iwan Rheon, best known as creepy dog-dad Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones, and Jojo Macari co-star in the Roland Emmerich-directed series.
The options above only scratch the surface, so you know that this weekend’s full lineup will have amazing options for what to watch this weekend!
