Taking home a newborn is a pretty stressful business.
You have to navigate a lot of unknowns as you figure out… what exactly to do with the thing.

But this couple has managed to take a moment for a bit of humour amongst all the chaos.
After bringing their son home from the hospital, new parents Todd Wilson and Kristen Yanow decided to treat their neighbours to a hilarious peace offering, in the hopes it would offset potential noise complaints.
The gesture has given their apartment complex, and now the internet, a good old chuckle.
Todd told TODAY that he and his partner Kristen, welcomed their first child, Quint, in January this year.

The pair live in a one-bedroom apartment in New York’s Lower East Side and share the floor with four neighbors. And as they weren’t sure how loud or often newborns cry – (loudly and frequently is the answer), they decided to give them a heads up.
The sign in question, which he posted on his Instagram, read: “We have a newborn. He is loud. We are sorry. He’s cute as f–k, but very noisy. Bear with us. Thanks for your patience.”
But that’s not all. “Take a nip of two at your leisure,” the sign concluded.

Then underneath it was a bucket hanging on the doorknob, full of mini Jameson and tequila bottles.
The sign has since been picked up by the viral Instagram account What Is New York which shared Todd’s post with the caption, “Parenting done right.”
It’s now gained over 170k likes and 1.3k comments as it’s clearly resonated with a lot of people.
“I want these neighbours!” the most popular comment read. “Not even the cheap stuff, THE GOOD STUFF!” another praised.

And this person added: “Yup. I love the fact they’re still being alert to their neighbors even though they should be treated with grace and kindness, a newborn is no joke so shoutout to them.”
But someone else said that a newborn’s cry is probably the least of their neighbor’s worries: “I get the gesture, it’s nice, but of all the noises made in NY apartments, this is the last one that needs an apology.”
And then this person pointed out, “There’s no need to apologise for a baby” at all.
Someone replied to that saying, “Yeah! Let the baby speak for itself!”
