Starz has released a brand new trailer for the final season of Outlander, one that ends with a shocking tease for fans. While the bulk of the Outlander Season 8 official teaser shows familiar faces, a return to Fraser’s Ridge, and even a nod to Diana Gabaldon’s Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, it’s the final moments that are sure to get fans speculating.
The Outlander final season teaser ends with a man’s voice introducing himself to Claire (Caitriona Balfe). This person speaks in a clear, crisp English accent and is offscreen. Jamie (Sam Heughan) is unfazed by this person, but Claire looks on as if she’s seen a ghost. In her voiceover, Claire asks, “Is it possible?”
Who could this be? Is Claire’s brother — recently baptized in Outlander: Blood of My Blood as William Henry Beauchamp — showing up in the final season of Outlander?
“I would never tell you!” Outlander and Outlander: Blood of My Blood showrunner Matthew B. Roberts literally told DECIDER yesterday when we asked if Blood of My Blood fans will need to follow Outlander Season 8 to learn more about Claire’s time-traveling parents and mysterious brother. Chuckling, he said, “I will absolutely never tell you.”
Roberts previously told DECIDER that he had a plan for how Claire’s brother would tie into the larger Outlander saga and that he was looking forward to the “million theories” that would emerge.
“The plan that I have, I can always change my mind,” Roberts said. “But no, where I want to go with it, I think heads might explode…but I’m not going to tell you!”
The Outlander Season 7 finale already made many fans’ heads explode when Claire theorizes that Jamie and Claire’s firstborn child Faith might not have died all the way back in Season 2. Instead, she lived and went on to give birth to Jane (Silvia Presente) and Fanny Pocock (Florrie Mae Wilkinson).
Roberts confirmed to DECIDER last year that the final season of Outlander would explain what actually happened to baby Faith. “We’re not going to leave it under the table,” he said. “You’ll see the stories play out.”
Of course, it’s possible that the man speaking to Claire at the end of the Outlander Season 8 trailer isn’t her brother, but another time-traveling family member. This could be just me, but it does sound a little bit like Jeremy Irvine, who plays Claire’s father, currently stuck in 1715, in Blood of My Blood. Then again, it could be someone who has nothing to do with Claire’s complicated family tree.
Outlander and Blood of My Blood fans will have to wait until next year to find out. The final season of Outlander premieres in early 2026 only on Starz.
