As we head into Labor Day weekend, our Hollywood programming overlords have blessed us with dozens of great movies that are new on VOD, so if you’re ready for a long, lazy weekend of movies, you’re in luck. Alison Brie and Dave Franco’s dark body horror-comedy Together is out now, as is the heart-wrenching documentary It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley. You can also find the Molly Gordon rom-com Oh, Hi!, Pete Davidson in The Home, and the remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer out now.
This new version of I Know What You Did Last Summer stars Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, and Tyriq Withers (along with appearances from Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt) and rehashes the old story of a group of friends who cover up an accidental death that they’ve caused, leading them to become targets of someone seeking revenge. This time around there is, of course, a true crime podcaster, who is there to research the other mysterious death that occurred in the same town back in the original 1997 film.
These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
Alison Brie and Dave Franco star in the body horror film Together as a couple who relocates to a remote cabin. After a hike in the woods, they start to notice that their bodies have started to change and fuse together. Australian Michael Shanks wrote and directed the film which arrived on demand this week.
In the nearly 30 years since musician Jeff Buckley’s passing, his legend and fan base has only grown. The release of director Amy Berg’s It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley, explores the life and death of the singer who accidentally drowned while swimming in a Memphis river in 1997. To a certain generation, the film may just be the cathartic release we need to get over the loss of a performer who left us much too soon.
