This week’s new movies on VOD are bound to up the creepy, or at least freaky, factor on your TV. First up, we’ve got the release of the (maybe) final movie in the Conjuring universe, The Conjuring: Last Rites, along with the equally creepy Jordan Peele-produced horror Him.
For something less terrifying, there’s also Freakier Friday, the sequel to the 2003 Disney movie Freaky Friday, which reunites Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis as a mother-and-daughter duo whose bodies were swapped after a fateful trip to Pei-Pei’s Chinese restaurant. In the new film, Anna (Lohan) and her mom Tess (Curtis) end up swapping bodies not with each other but with Anna’s daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and her soon-to-be stepdaughter, (Sophia Hammons) who want to break up their parents engagement.
These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
The Conjuring: Last Rites is the ninth and final movie in the Conjuring franchise, and the fourth Conjuring movie starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. In this one, which has been the highest-grossing film in the Conjuring franchise earning nearly a half a billion dollars at the box office, the duo takes on one last supernatural case that will “end it all.”
In Him, which is produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypay Productions and was directed by Justin Tipping, a young football player, Cam Cade (Tyriq Withers) allows himself to be trained and mentored by his idol, Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans) to prepare for a combine. White’s remote training facility in the desert promises Cam an opportunity to learn from his hero, until he discovers a dark danger there.
