More On:

New on VOD

Whether you’re looking for a horror movie, rom-com, or documentary that’s basically a love letter to a classic horror franchise, this week’s new movies on VOD feature something for every genre. From Meet Cute, starring Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson as time-traveling New Yorkers navigating the dating scene, to Living With Chucky, a fond retrospective that looks back at decades of terror caused by a killer doll, there are loads of great new titles out now.

And then there’s Summoning Sylvia. In this new, camp horror, Travis Coles stars as Larry, a gay man who has been whisked away to a haunted cabin by his three best friends who have planned a spooky bachelor party weekend for him. The house where the men are staying is reportedly haunted by the ghost of a woman named Sylvia, so of course they hold a seance to see if they can rouse the woman from her eternal slumber. The film co-stars Michael Urie, Nicholas Logan, Troy Iwata, and Frankie Grande.

These are just a few of the titles that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now!

It’s hard to believe that the killer doll we call Chucky is an elder millennial. The first Child’s Play movie came out in 1988, and in the time since, Chucky has become an icon of horror. (Chucky walked so M3GAN could run, etc. etc.) In the new documentary Living With Chucky, filmmaker Kyra Elise Gardner (whose father Tony was the SFX artist behind Chucky) interviews stars like Jennifer Tilly and Alex Vincent, and also offers her own firsthand accounts of what Chucky meant to her and her adolescence, and what his legacy means to film fans everywhere.

In Juniper, Charlotte Rampling stars as Ruth, a gin-swilling war photojournalist who moves in with her son and grandson as she recovers from a broken leg. Ruth, naturally acerbic and unhappy with her situation, eventually finds a kinship with her equally unhappy grandson Sam (George Ferrier), who has struggled to cope since the death of his mother.

Last September, Meet Cute arrived on Peacock and cemented itself as a charming, witty, modern rom-com, despite the fact that it feels like it flew a bit under the radar. Kaley Cuoco stars as Sheila suicidal, depressed woman who meets Gary (Pete Davidson) and has a great first date. When she goes to get her nails done, her nail tech shows her a tanning bed that gives Sheila the ability to go back in time 24 hours, so she goes back every day and re-lives her great date over and over. Of course with all things time travel, Sheila starts playing God with the current timeline and things get complicated, but the film sorts that all out by the end.
