This week, Zach Cregger’s box office hit Weapons, starring Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, and Amy Madigan, is one of several popular films that are new on VOD. Also arriving on demand is the Ethan Coen-directed Honey Don’t! which co-stars Aubrey Plaza and Margaret Qualley, and the faux-documentary Strange Harvest.
Strange Harvest takes all the elements of a true crime documentary and creates a fake, but also pretty convincing, tale of two detectives investigating a serial killer lurking in California’s Inland Empire. The film was written and directed by Stuart Ortiz whose previous films include the supernatural found-footage thriller Grave Encounters and its sequel.
These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
Penned by Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke, Honey Don’t! stars Margaret Qualley as a private detective named Honey O’Donahue who is working a murder case that involves a religious cult. The case is also being investigated by police officer MG Falcone (Aubrey Plaza) and sparks fly as the two work together. Honey Don’t! co-stars Chris Evans, Charlie Day and Kristen Connolly and arrived to digital earlier this week.
Weapons, Zach Cregger’s follow-up to 2022’s Barbarian, stars Julia Garner as a third-grade teacher named Justine Gandy whose students – 17 children in all – mysteriously leave their homes in the middle of the night, alarming their parents and the local community, placing Justine under suspicion. The film co-stars Josh Brolin, Cary Christopher, Alden Ehrenreich and, perhaps most memorable of all, Amy Madigan as Aunt Gladys.
