New on VOD

This week’s new movies on demand feature some intense, action-packed titles that are sure to shower you with all sorts of thrills and entertainment. Filmmaking duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have brought Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, and more together to star in their recently released action comedy film Freaky Tales. Another notable new title that doesn’t shy away from the freaky is Hell of a Summer, a comedy horror film co-directed by Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk that features them and other young up-and-coming actors as camp counselors trying to survive a mysterious masked killer.

Also out this week is Ash, a Flying Lotus-directed sci-fi horror film starring Eiza González as an astronaut who wakes up on a distant planet to find her entire space crew brutally murdered. With no memory of what happened, the woman battles paranoia and confusion that only increase after she is confronted by a man (Aaron Paul) sent to rescue her, unsure if he is someone whom she can truly trust.

These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.

Freaky Tales focuses on four interconnected stories that are all based around actual events that occurred around Oakland, California, in the year 1987. The titular tales revolve around young punk rock fans who face off against neo-Nazis, budding female rappers (Normani and Dominique Thorne) chasing success in the face of mistreatment, a reformed criminal (Pedro Pascal) struggling to leave his old life and unsavory ties behind, and an NBA all-star (Jay Ellis) who seeks revenge on the Nazi gang that attacked his home and family. Witness it all in this entertaining and inventive new movie that’s now available on VOD.

Start prepping for summer (and maybe also Halloween) early with this comedy horror film written and directed by Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk. Inspired by some of your favorite ’80s slasher movies, Hell of a Summer centers on a group of summer camp counselors who are terrorized by an unknown killer wearing a devil mask who targets them after murdering the camp’s owners (Adam Pally and Rosebud Baker). See Fred Hechinger, Abby Quinn, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Pardis Saremi, and Krista Nazaire, star alongside Wolfhard and Bryk now in Hell of a Summer.
