Noteworthy items during the Mets’ spring training practice on Tuesday in Tampa:
Jorge Lopez fired a perfect inning in live batting practice Tuesday and looked the sharpest of the four pitchers who participated, according to pitching coach Jeremy Hefner.
The reliever Lopez arrived to the Mets this offseason on a one-year deal worth $2 million.
Francisco Lindor broke his bat — a rarity in live batting practice — trying to handle an inside pitch from lefty Sean Manaea (who pitched two innings).
The Mets haven’t wasted any time preparing for game conditions, incorporating the pitch clock and PitchCom into live batting practice. A PitchCom issue briefly halted the session, prompting Harrison Bader to loudly joke from on deck, “Fingers — one is fastball.”’
The Mets continue full-squad workouts ahead of their Grapefruit League opener on Saturday against the Cardinals at Clover Park.
