The Brooklyn Nets are offloading a contract and taking a flier on a former first-round pick.
Brooklyn agreed to send forward Mamadi Diakite to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for former top-10 draft pick Ziaire Williams and a Dallas Mavericks 2030 second-round draft pick, per ESPN.
The Nets previously acquired Diakite from the Knicks in the trade that sent Mikal Bridges out of Brooklyn and on a quick subway ride to Madison Square Garden.
Diakite is in the final year of his contract, which will pay him $1.39 million guaranteed this season.
Williams is being paid $6.1 million this season.
Memphis had $189.4 million in committed salaries for the season, so this trade acts as a bit of a salary dump for the Grizzlies as it helps them get under the second apron ($188.931 million)

Williams averaged 8.2 points per game, along with 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists on 39.7 shooting from the field in 51 games, including 15 starts.
He averaged 20.4 minutes per game.
