NextImg:Nets add new director of basketball operations

The Nets continue restocking and reshuffling of their front office, with general manager Sean Marks hiring Justin Bokmeyer as his new director of basketball operations.

The news was first reported by The Athletic and confirmed by The Post.

Bokmeyer — who worked in development programs for the NBA and MLS — will replace the departed Ryan Gisriel.

The latter departed for Charlotte in a move first reported by The Post.

He was officially named the Hornets’ VP of Basketball Operations on Thursday.

A West Point grad who spent 11 years on active duty in the Army — including serving in Iraq — Bokmeyer has a varied background, much like Spanish-born Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez.

Bokmeyer worked in international basketball operations for the NBA.

From 2018-2022, he helped guide the NBA Academy program and was key in creating and launching the Basketball Africa League.

In August 2022 he was named the first general manager of MLS NEXT, the soccer league’s development program.

But now he’s come back to basketball., albeit with the Nets, not the NBA.

Bokmeyer is a San Diego-area native who played pro lacrosse. Nets owner Joe Tsai lives in La Jolla, Calif., and is a pro lacrosse team owner and enthusiast.
