NextImg:Nets add Long Island native Patrick Gardner on Exhibit 10 contract

The Nets agreed to a deal with undrafted rookie free agent Patrick Yousef Gardner on Tuesday.

The news was first reported by Hoopshype and confirmed by The Post.

Gardner was signed to an Exhibit 10 contract, and he could well end up as the starting center for G-League Long Island.

A Merrick native, Gardner is a 6-foot-11, 245-pound stretch 5 with limited athleticism and middling defense.

He is slated to play for Egypt in the FIBA World Cup next month.

Gardner averaged 19.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and a block as a redshirt senior for Marist, shooting 49.7 percent overall and 38.3 percent from 3-point range.

He went undrafted but played in the Las Vegas Summer League with Miami — renowned for its ability to mine undrafted gold.

Patrick Gardner (95) signed with the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. He played in Summer League with the Miami Heat.

Logging 10.5 minutes in three summer league tilts for the Heat, Gardner mustered 5.7 points and three rebounds on 45.5 percent shooting from deep.

The center will bring his sweet lefty shooting stroke to camp with Brooklyn.

The Nets have one open standard roster spot and one vacant two-way.

They also have three training camp spots open, with one presumably going to Gardner and another potentially going to D.J. Stewart, whose rights were acquired by Long Island on Monday.
