Few performers embrace the chaos of live comedy better than John Mulaney. Nikki Glaser described his 2024 Netflix talk show Everybody’s in LA as “an inside joke that only you are in on,” with Jon Stewart memorably saying, “I feel like this entire show is a Banksy.”
On Wednesday, March 12, the prolific comedian returned to Netflix with the debut episode of Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney, his newest live streaming venture that’ll air over the next 11 Wednesday nights on Netflix.
To borrow a phrase from 2010 Mulaney: I love it! The first episode has the unpredictable, helter-skelter energy of an upscale cable access show you’d stumble across at 3:00 a.m. in 1999, except that Everybody’s Live includes a bevy of well-known celebrities. The guest list for the show’s debut offering was eclectic as Michael Keaton, Tracy Morgan, Joan Baez, Fred Armisen, Cypress Hill, Personal Finance Columnist Jessica Roy, and Christopher Lloyd (in a very Mulaney bit involving roughly a dozen Willy Lomans) all appeared in various capacities during the hour-long show.
Mulaney’s random assortment of guests as well as the unpredictable episode themes — the first installment loosely dealt with the topic of lending people money — combine to create a truly unique television experience. The show has yet to announce its guests for Episodes 2-12, but based on the first installment, we think we have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
Here’s (maybe, probably) the guest list for the next 11 episodes of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney.
Episode 2: “Tipping When Picking Up Takeout — Yes? No?”
Episode 3: “Weather: I Mean… It’s Getting Weirder, Right?”
Episode 4: “Half-Birthdays: ‘Sure, Why Not?’ Or ‘Get The Hell Out of Here With That Nonsense'”
Episode 5: “Okay, But I Didn’t Order Any Alcohol, So Why Are We Splitting The Bill Evenly?”
Episode 6: “An Hour With Ashlee Simpson”
The sixth episode of the series breaks format as John, Richard, and Saymo have an in-depth conversation with former 7th Heaven star Ashlee Simpson. From The Ashlee Simpson Show and the process of putting together her debut album “Autobiography” to her portrayal of Roxie Hart on Broadway, this no-holds-barred conversation “goes there” as Simpson opens up about what really happened on Saturday Night Live, her favorite season of MTV’s The Real World, and her go-to late-night binge watch.
Episode 7: “Should People Who Needlessly Take Up Two Seats With Their Bags On Public Transportation Be Jailed? Like, Just For a Few Days So Maybe They Learn A Lesson About Human Decency?”
Episode 8: “Okay, But Did You Honestly Finish Infinite Jest?”
Episode 9: “Is Jessica Simpson’s Version of ‘Take My Breath Away’ Better Than the Original?
Episode 10: “Explain The Whole Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni Thing Like I’m New Here”
Episode 11: “The Nine Hardest Words To Say Are ‘I Don’t Want To Start a Podcast With You'”

Episode 12: “What’s Your Favorite SNL Cold Open And Why Is It Steve Martin’s ‘Not Gonna Phone It In Tonight’?”
And that’s a wrap. We’ll hopefully see you for Season 2!
Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney airs Wednesday nights on Netflix.
