Get excited! Netflix has announced that XO, Kitty is being renewed for a second season, just under a month after its first season’s release. The Anna Cathcart-led series is a spinoff of the To All the Boys film trilogy.
According to Netflix’s renewal announcement on Tudum, the series accumulated 71.2 million hours of viewing in its first week. The new series follows Kitty Song Covey, described by Netflix as “the most successful matchmaker of the To All the Boys universe.”
However, Kitty’s own personal matchmaking was put to the test in Season 1, when she moved to South Korea to attend the Korea Independent School of Seoul (KISS) and to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend Dae Kim (Minyeong Choi). When she arrived and discovered that Dae is dating (*spoiler alert!*) Yuri Han (Gia Kim), Kitty learned that love is more difficult than it may seem.
Cathcart has already taken to Instagram to express her excitement for Season 2, where she shared a post captioned, “freaking out… a little bit… or a lot @xokittynetflix.”
We’re right there with you, Anna!
Just like the To All the Boys trilogy, the spinoff series is written by Jenny Han, the author of the To All the Boys book series. Han is also the creator of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is a television adaptation of another of her novels.
Han reposted the announcement from the official XO, Kitty Instagram page, with the caption: “IT’S OFFICIAL ???? @xokittynetflix is coming back for season 2! See you in Seoul ???? #xokitty.”
Avid fans and brand new viewers alike can stream the first full season of XO, Kitty now on Netflix.
