Jalen Brunson’s incredible run has him knocking on the door of the NBA MVP conversation. 

The newly minted All-Star was an afterthought in the race just a week ago, but now, as the Knicks look to extend their win streak to double-digits Saturday night, Brunson is right in the mix. 

In late January, Brunson was outside of the top 10 on most odds boards, sitting as high as +25000 to win the 2023-24 MVP, according to BetMGM Sportsbook’s John Ewing. 

That changed quickly after a hot week from Brunson and a dominant January from the Knicks, which saw the team win 14 games in a single month for the first time in 30 years. 

Brunson is now at +4000 to be this season’s MVP, which is tied with Celtics star Jayson Tatum for the fifth-best odds at BetMGM. 

The pair trails favorite Nikola Jokic (-155), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+250), Luka Doncic (+900) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (+900). 

The Knicks are currently 32-17 and just a half-game back of the Milwaukee Bucks for the second seed in the Eastern Conference thanks in large part to Brunson’s stardom. 

If they keep this pace, Brunson will have led the Knicks to just their second 50-win season since Patrick Ewing wore Orange and Blue in 1999-2000. 

Brunson is averaging a career-high 27.1 points and 6.4 assists on 48.1 percent shooting. 

His rise up the board comes as Joel Embiid, a favorite to win the award for the bulk of the season, has fallen off due to a knee injury that has him at risk of the league’s new 65-game end-of-season award minimum. 

The Knicks will take on LeBron James & Co. when they host the Lakers at Madison Square Garden at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. 

Another big game from Brunson and the Knicks on national television, and +4000 might start looking like a bargain.
