Naomi gave Evolution the feel-good exclamation point it needed after successfully cashing in her Money in the Bank contract during the Iyo Sky-Rhea Ripley main event to become the new Women’s World champion to close a very strong show at State Farm Arena on Sunday.
It was the only true newsworthy item from the show, which featured wall-to-wall, great in-ring action, but would have felt a little light without the cash-in.
Naomi came out with Sky and Ripley down after the champion superbly countered an Avalanche Riptide attempt into a Spanish Fly. Naomi, who was put through a table by Jade Cargill earlier in the show, smashed Sky with the briefcase, rammed Ripley into the ring post, and hit her split-legged moonsault before pinning Sky to a big pop. It was a bit of a surprise as Naomi cashed in on the Raw champion, while being from SmackDown.
It is Naomi’s third singles world title in WWE and first since 2017, completing a three-year journey that saw her grow immensely as a performer after she and Mercedes Mone walked out of the company during a Raw show in May 2022.
