A woman went viral on TikTok sharing how hotel staff ruined her sister’s wedding as they went on strike.
Lauren West shared several clips showing the mayhem that ensued when her family arrived at the Double Tree in San Pedro, California over the weekend to celebrate her sister’s wedding.
“It’s my sister’s wedding and the hotel staff are striking next to the venue,” she posted in a TikTok video that quickly gathered over 1.8 million viewers.
The quick clip showed a large group of people holding signs and protesting just feet from the beautifully decorated outdoor dining area.
“We hoped they would be respectful but as it gets closer to the wedding @UNITE HERE! is sending even more strikers to bombard my sister’s wedding, and where is @HiltonByDoubleTree???” she questioned in the caption.
In another TikTok video, West showed another angle of the debacle as the upset hotel employees marched in circles just outside the venue.
“Double Tree San Pedro hotel strikers are disrupting my sister’s wedding and Double Tree isn’t doing anything about it,” West wrote in a follow-up TikTok video.
Maria Hernandez, a rep for Unite Here Local 11, protesters told The Sun that the workers “were on strike fighting for a fair contract with livable wages, pension, healthcare, and safer workloads.”
However, West insisted that Hilton Double Tree “explain what they’re doing to their employees to make them believe it’s acceptable to ruin an innocent person’s wedding.”
“There are ethical ways to strike working conditions without dragging an innocent family into the crossfire. I wouldn’t wish this on any of the @UNITE HERE! families.”
She explained that while the workers were initially striking in front of the lobby some moved directly outside of the wedding venue right before the ceremony was set to start “deliberately sending them to the wedding to ruin it.”

West claimed that her nieces were “terrified….on a day that should be happy and full of love.”
“These strikers are out here making kids cry. This is not what unions are about. And Double Tree San Pedro hasn’t reached out AT ALL to remedy this,” she said. “We’ve been calling repeatedly to make this right. My sister deserves compensation for this distress.”
When Isabel Lien commented, “Have you asked them to move, they are fighting for their rights,” West was sure to respond posting a TikTok video sharing that the family decicded to move the “wedding ceremony indoors because the hotel strikers were trying to disrupt it” until they surrounded the building.
She noted that the family only learned of the strike an hour before they arrived to the hotel because it was the first day of the strike.
“The wedding was already paid in full. My family can’t afford to sacrifice that money,” she said.
A rep from Double Tree told The Sun that “making sure our guests have a great experience is our top priority, which is why our entire team is always ready to find creative solutions and go above and beyond to exceed guest expectations when plans need to change.”
They claimed that their team “immediately took steps to present options to the wedding party, including offering up an alternate on-site location away from the outside area” and “provided complimentary perks and rewards, such as bar service, to further ensure the wedding party had a great time.”
However, West denies these claims.
West and Double Tree did not immediately respond to The Post’s request to comment.
