When the end credits roll on My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2, viewers will be left processing two colossal cliffhangers and counting down the days until Season 3.

The sophomore season of Melanie Halsall’s Netflix drama, inspired by Ali Novak’s novels, picked up two years after the Season 1 finale. Following Jackie’s (Nikki Rodriguez) highly-anticipated return to the Walter family farm, she worked to make things right with Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex (Ashby Gentry), but the trio found themselves torn apart again in the finale — and not just because of their love triangle!

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2, Episode 10 spoilers ahead.

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2, Episode 10, “Showdowns and Sparkles,” was an eventful installment that featured more classic Walter Boys romance, drama, and twists. After a crucial football game, a make-it-or-break-it sponsorship tryout, another driving test, and Silver Falls’ annual Sparkle festival, there was no happy ending! Instead, an unexpected emergency arose that threatened the fate of a beloved character on the show.

So how did My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 end? Who does Jackie end up with in My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2? And whose life is in danger ahead of Season 3?! Decider’s detailed Season 2 finale recap has answers.

“Showdowns and Sparkles” kicks off with Silver Falls prepping for a big football game against rival team, Aurelita. Though Silver Falls seemed doomed after Dylan’s (Kolton Stewart) drug test came back positive, his dad persuaded the principal to get him back on the team — much to the disapproval of Kiley (Mya Lowe), who challenges Dylan to stand up to his dad and be his own person.

As the town prepares for the annual Sparkle festival, Alex and Blake (Natalie Sharp) head to sponsorship tryouts that could secure him a real future in bronc riding. There’s just one catch: If Blake’s dad decides to sponsor Alex, she can’t be his trainer anymore. Meanwhile, Jackie heads to take her driving test, again, and after she passes, Katherine (Sarah Rafferty) gifts her her late mother’s car. (BRB, sobbing!)

Ahead of the big game, Jackie makes another attempt to connect with Cole, but ever since he walked in on her and Alex horizontal at Richard’s (Alex Quijano) house, he’s shutting her out. He lies and says he hasn’t gotten his new SAT scores, then turns down her offer to help fill out college applications. His inexplicably withdrawn behavior worries Jackie, and only reaffirms her decision to keep her and Alex’s relationship a secret, which no one else — including Alex —understands. At one point, Jackie’s pal Grace (Ellie O’Brien) — stressed about her parents on the verge of splitting — even says, “Maybe you should just pick a boy! Id love it if my biggest problem was which hot boy likes me best!” We get it, girl! But it’s not that easy!

Speaking of the hot boys, ahead of the game, Dylan tells Cole that he’s not playing after all and wants to start taking responsibility for his actions. While Cole respects the move, Dylan takes some serious heat from his dad. And with Silver Falls behind, coach learns his wife is in labor and leaves ahead of halftime. Though a win without the coach and Dylan feels impossible, Cole steps up, siezes his Coach Taylor moment, and helps lead the team to victory! Clear eyes, full hearts, Colen’t lose?

Jackie texts Cole congratulations, but after typing for a few seconds, he decides not to reply. His silence worries Jackie, so when Alex arrives — high off his own achievement — and tries to kiss her in public, she pulls away, which leaves Alex visibly hurt. But, hey! They’re not the only couple at the Sparkle!

Nathan (Corey Fogelmanis) apologizes to Skylar (Jaylan Evans) for everything that went down with Zach (Carson MacCormac), but Sky knows his worth and tells Nathan he can’t trust him anymore. On a happier note, Danny (Connor Stanhope) makes up with Erin (Alisha Newton), and after Dylan tells Kylie she inspired him to honor his suspension and he’s “crazy about” her, the two finally kiss. (Sidenote: Alex clocks their sweet smooch and looks…jealous?! Interesting…)

Though Jackie lost the class election, she wins a Young Sparkler Award for all her hard work at the school and Erin encourages her to run for Student Council president next year. Katherine also reminds Jackie what a huge part of the community she is, but she makes the mistake of saying, “It almost feels like everything is getting back to normal!” So naturally, chaos awaits!

After being gone *checks notes* all season, Haley (Zoë Soul) returns home a week early to support Will (Johnny Link), who’s torn up over his business deal with dad gone astray. She tells him there’s a whole world out there they haven’t seen and suggests Silver Falls is “too small for [his] big ideas,” so he heads to the farm to chat with his dad, only to learn he’s working up on the top field at night.

Just when it seems Jackie is finally fitting in with the family again, she learns that Cole got his unexpectedly great SAT scores a couple weeks earlier and didn’t tell her. When she asks why he kept them a secret, he heads outside and she follows. She asks why he’s been avoiding her for weeks, and he finally comes clean and reveals he saw her and Alex at Richard’s house and doesn’t understand how she chose his brother…AGAIN!

“I was giving you space like you asked. But I thought we had something! I’ve been racking my brain trying to understand why you’d be with my brother again?!” Cole asks. “Why is it that you can’t stay away from him, but you can stay away from me?” Standing in front of Cole’s most vulnerable self, Jackie cracks and the flood gates open. “I can’t stay away from you, OK?! I keep trying to and nothing works. And I can’t have that, Cole. I can’t be with someone who makes me feel the way that you make me feel.”

He tells her he loves her, and she says it back. So what the heck is stopping them from being together, you ask?!

“When we kissed before, it was the only time that I’ve ever stopped thinking about everything: how I’m doing in school, if I fit in here, what my future will look like. I felt really…free, like I was out of control,” Jackie says. “And I can’t have that, Cole. I can’t. I can’t lose control…Because, I don’t know what might happen if I do.” *SCREAMS!!!!*

Now, Walter Boys fans. Ask yourself: What’s the worst possible scenario here. That Alex would be standing right behind them, listening to their romantic as hell confessions? You bet! Before Jackie or Cole have a chance to respond to Alex’s, “You love him?!” however, Will races back to the barn, emergency vehicles pull up to the house, and Will shouts, “IT’S DAD!”

So what happened to George Walter (Marc Blucas)?! Was there an accident in the field? Or a medical emergency of some sort?! It’s not immediately clear, so we’ll have to wait until Season 3 for answers that are sure to shake up the Walter family dynamic (and set back the show’s romantic relationships) even more. I can’t imagine My Life with the Walter Boys permanently losing its patriarch, so here’s hoping George and the Walter fam have another season of healing ahead.

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
